Welcome to Dog Blog Wednesday! Where we get to see what Reagan is up to. Because who doesn’t love a border collie, on a blog, on a Wednesday? So, you’ve met Reagan. She’s 4 years old, will be 5 next month! And she is crazy as ever. She’s a blue merle, 100% border collie. This is surprising to a lot of people, as this is a fairly rare coloring for borders. I’d say 75% of people we run into on the street who comment on our dog, guess that she’s an australian shepherd. I can see why, I mean, look at the resemblance.
But I’m sure she’s a border collie, based on three things:
1. The breeder in Missouri where I got her as an 8 week old puppy told me so (shhh, don’t tell her she’s from Missouri). The breeder and his place were a little bit, shall we say, “backcountry”. Reagan may have come home with giardia from the place and shit all over for a few weeks, but we love her just the same.
2. Aussies typically have docked tails. I realize this is not very good evidence, because I do know that most of them aren’t born that way, but hey. It’s something.
3. The vet has never argued with me. Success!
So today, Reagan went to the groomer for the first time ever! She stays pretty clean naturally, and we give her baths occasionally, but the hair around her back legs and butt gets all kinds of matted, and she refuses to let me brush it out. The groomers gave her a bath, brush, trimmed out all the matts and tangles, and trimmed her nails. 3 hours and $37 later, here she is looking super fluffy and clean! I would highly recommended it!!
