I don’t know about you guys, but I think winter has officially arrived in Wyoming. It’s always kind of sad when the time changes and we say goodbye to daylight after work for approximately the next 4 or so months. It also started raining this afternoon, and the rain is supposed to turn to snow overnight. So yeah. I think our long beautiful fall days (which we were spoiled with this year) are over.
On the bright side, it’s getting to be perfect weather for cuddling up! And our bedroom is looking super cozy these days, since we’re now 5 weeks in to our One Room Challenge bedroom makeover. Spoiler alert: Reagan likes it too.
I’m only slightly worried that the big reveal is one week from today. I think we’re down to the details at this point, but didn’t finish as many small projects as I’d hoped to over the weekend. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, catch up here:
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4
First things first, I have a couple of corrections to last week’s post. In my search for rose gold pendant lights, I told you that I had seen this picture, but didn’t have a source for the fixture:
Turns out, I totally did. Browsing back through my pinterest board, I found that I had also pinned the metallic cord set from West Elm. So, there you go. I will say, I am so glad we found the Color Cord Company, because I think the DIY fixtures we got look much nicer than the one offered at West Elm. They’re cheaper too.
I also did a pale pink linen pillow case round-up last week. I had finally made a decision to go with the nest pillow cases in blush, because they are reasonably priced (comparatively – $60 still seems like a lot to spend on pillow cases but linen is pricey), and they look like the perfect soft shade of pink, without getting into pepto bismol territory.
To my disappointment, I was all ready to check out online, when I found out that Nest only ships to New Zealand and Australia. So good news if you are in New Zealand. Not so great for us in ‘merica.
I couldn’t bring myself to spend $85 after shipping to splurge on the Cultiver blush pillowcases. I even tried creating an account with them, in the hopes that they would email me a coupon for a first-time purchase. But no dice. Damn you, beautiful expensive linen.
Then, after stressing out for probably entirely too long over whether I should skip accent pillows altogether, I found a couple of covers on H&M. I ordered these two for a total of $28.93 with shipping.
I finally got a bedskirt (went with a simple ivory cotton one from Target). So, we put the new sheets and H&M linen duvet cover on the bed this weekend, and it is everything I dreamed of! If only H&M offered a linen sheet set as well… I would be on that shit like white on rice.
I think the biggest improvement of the week goes to our finished rose gold pendant bedside lights. And, of course, to Jesse, for totally making these happen. I mostly just painted and helped line these bad boys up.
The Color Cord website advises that you should consult a licensed electrician before messing with electrical projects. Luckily, I married a master of all trades. I asked him if he knew what he was doing, and he informed me that he has wired an entire building before. Duh.
So, I sat back and let him work his magic, and now I’m going to share it with you!
Here is a look at my progress, with only one week to go!
